MISSION TRIP!! BOO-YEAH!

Well, tomorrow morning, very early, we're leaving for our mission trip. I went on one trip when I was in youth group 'cause I didn't get involved till I was a senior, and I've been on three in the past three years as a chaperone. This year we're going to St. Petersburg, FL. I know, it doesn't seem like the typical mission trip environment, but I'm sure God can bless us there just like he could in the pits of disparity in Mexico or a third-world country. I'm ready for it. Bring it on.

As a chaperone on these trips, I think I get a unique perspective, mainly because I'm paying more attention. I see these kids just going on a free trip to Florida, and I see God move in their lives throughout the whole week. Then I see these kids come home to Fairfield on fire for God. It's an awesome thing just to sit back and watch God move in someone's life. I'm not saying, though, that God only moves in the kids lives. I also go on these trips because I believe that I'm changed every time I go. I come home with a different perspective on things. When I start to complain that I only have four channels on my TV, then I remember the trips where we've worked at homeless shelters and realize, you know what, I have a house, a warm bed, plenty of clothes, and I'm complaining about 4 channels.

These trips make you realize how selfish you really are or can be. Just pray for us that we would have a safe trip there and back and that we would be open to whatever God would have us learn and do this week.

Peace out!
Jules
