Did you know...

...in 2004 the average person spent 10 weeks in front of the TV, which equals about 70 days or 1680 hours. We only get 52 weeks a year and for the average person in 2004 they spent 10 of those watching the television. I watch about one to two hours a week and I feel bad about that sometimes.

So here's my thoughts on this: The people they're watching on TV are actors living out their dreams by acting on a television show or on a movie. They're sitting in their living room not doing anything in the way of taking a step towards making their dreams a reality. Why would a person spend 19.23% of a year watching someone else live out their dreams and you not do anything towards achieving theirs?

Any comments?

I am living out my dreams. One of my dreams is that I get to watch LOST each week and the only interruption is when Nathan calls me during commercials to discuss what is happening. I am also living out my dream to laugh a lot when I watch The Office.

Unfortunately, to achieve dreams sometimes people work so hard and then run life's rat race so fast that TV is the stress relief and down time that is needed. I think you are right about doing what we need to to achieve our dreams, but also we have to get some relief from it. ie...Sunday nights Justin and I don't want to be anywhere except sitting on the couch eating supper and watching desperate housewives.

I'm not talking casual TV watchers, guys. I have no problem with sitting down and watching TV for an hour or two...I said in my post that I felt bad about it sometimes because usually when I do that, I have stuff that NEEDS to be done...like work. Anyway, if you run these numbers, 1680 hours a year divides out to be 32.31 hours a week. I don't know anyone who watches that much TV. I know a few who come closer than others, but "excessive" TV watching what what I'm talking about. Hope no one was offended!

okay, okay.... Excessive TV watchers. I get it. No offense taken, but you also shouldn't feel guilt about sitting down sometimes Julie...even if there is something, sometimes you still need a break :)
