EVERYONE LOVES A HAPPY ENDING
I was thinking about movies the other night. I tried to think of the movies I didn’t like. My friends and I like to come up with top ten lists, like top ten best and worst movies. There is very seldom a movie out there that I don’t like, but I realized that the ones that made my top ten worst movies list were movies with bad endings. These endings were endings that didn’t end happily. The good guy didn’t get the girl, or everyone died. Now days it seems like movie writers are trying to make movies more realistic, but I love a happy ending no matter how unrealistic it is. When I go to a movie I want to escape reality for about two hours. Is that too much to ask? I get enough of the bad stuff that life throws at me every day. All I ask is for one-and-a-half to two or three hours of escape. Then I started to wonder why I don’t like movies that are like life. I want that happy ending. I want to know that everything is going to be all right. If the ending isn’t happy, what’s the point of watching the movie? I guess that’s why some people read the ending of a book to see if they even want to read the book itself. Their thinking is, Why waste my time if it’s just going to end bad?
Recently I’ve been involved in a Bible study, and we’ve been reading and studying the book The Sacred Romance by Brent Curtis and John Eldredge. In that book they talk about the same thing. If life is going to end bad, what’s the point? Thankfully, as Christians we have the fabulous knowledge that we are going to have our happy ending. However bad life is here – and believe me life is bad for everyone, some worse than others – we are going to be celebrating one day with our Creator!!! How awesome is that!! Life as we know it is a huge desert with blessings as occasional oasis’s to get us through, but in the end how glorious it will be. Words can’t describe the wonderful things that will be waiting for us in Heaven. Our Creator has been waiting for us since He created us. He’s been pursuing our hearts. Just to think that the God of the Universe has been pursuing a relationship with me blows my mind!!
So when you want to escape from the reality that this world is filled with, just let your imagination run wild. Imagine Heaven, and you’ve got your happy ending!!!!

such a good reminder for my day/weekend. thank you! :)
sometimes i think about escapism in movies and i get mad, because the stories i want to see are the real ones...i am almost opposite of you on this one because unless a movie is clearly not going to be based in reality(matrix, LOTR, LWW, any Will smith movie) i dont like it when it isnt realistic....i think that is why i like garden state so much because of its realism, but it does get a little sappy at the end...
but i agree about Heaven...that is a happy ending
so, Britt, do you want me to ask you on here or wait till I see you again? 'cause if it's on here, consider me asking you...lol
lol...k
