I don't know if you all heard about the Supreme Court Ruling handed down last week. Let me give you a little background information. The government has always had what we call "imminent domaine." I think that's spelled right. What this means is that if they want to use a few feet of your yard to expand a highway, they can do it. They have to pay you fair market value for it, but they'll get your few feet of yard. If they want your whole farm to put an interstate system through, they'll get it.
A couple weeks ago the Supreme Court handed down a ruling that would effect private property rights. What they have done is essentially given cities the right of imminent domain. If a private developer wants to put a shopping mall on my house and they city council votes that he should be able to do it, as long as he gives me fair market value for my land, it's his. Never before in our history have pivate developers been given this right. I say it's might right to want to live where I'm at and sell if I want to sell and don't sell if I don't want to sell to a private owner. There are some pretty heartless people out there that don't care who they're putting out of house and home as long as they can make an extra buck or two.
Anyway, just click on my title above...it's a link :)...and you'll see who I'm seriously considering giving money to for this project. I'm all about doing good for them masses, but if you take away the rights of the few for the good of the many, that's crossing the line. There are ways that it can be done without violating anyone's rights.
Let me know what you think!
Peace out!
